Resonac Graphite announces completion of acquisition of 100% shares in AMI Automation – Introduces new AMI Leadership Team.

Resonac Corporation (President: Hidehito Takahashi; hereinafter “Resonac”) has acquired 100% of the outstanding shares in AMI Automation (based in Mexico, hereinafter, “AMI”). Resonac acquired 50% ownership in AMI on February 5, 2021, with an option to acquire the remaining 50% shares within five years from that date. Resonac has now acquired the remaining 50% to complete the acquisition of AMI.

AMI is recognized as a world-class technology and innovation leader around the globe. AMI provides automation solutions and advanced power control systems to a wide range of industries. AMI provides software and services to optimize the operation of electric arc furnaces (hereinafter, “EAF”) in the steel industry. AMI also offers customized solutions for advanced power control, conversion, and optimization not only to the steel industry, but also to paper, transportation, and various other industries.

With completion of the acquisition, we are pleased to announce the new leadership team for AMI. Mr. Makoto Takeda, Resonac Graphite Business Unit President & CEO, will assume the additional responsibility of Chairman of the AMI Management Committee.

Mr. Bernardo Sainz is appointed President & CEO of AMI Automation, reporting to Mr. Takeda. Mr. Sainz currently leads the Industrial Systems (IS) Division. He has over 30 years with AMI and has led the growth of the IS Division to a leadership position in the field of advanced power control, conversion, and optimization across multiple industries, including steel, paper, transportation, cement, oil & gas. Mr. Sainz will continue to lead the IS Division.

Mr. Carlos de los Santos is appointed Vice President of AMI Automation, reporting to Mr. Sainz. Mr. de los Santos will continue to lead the Meltshop Solutions (MS) Division. He has over 25 years with AMI and has been instrumental in the proliferation of optimization software that helps customers operate EAFs more efficiently. Today, about 90% of EAF steel produced in North America uses AMI’s software.
