AMI Automation Upgrades Motor Controls of 4 Large Ball Mills at Newmont Peñasquito with DigiQuad® System

AMI Automation, in collaboration with Newmont Peñasquito (Zacatecas, Mexico), successfully completed a major motor control modernization during the mine’s annual mill shutdown.
The project upgraded the mill motors’ control systems to DigiQuad®, a state-of-the-art digital control solution for large twin synchronous motors requiring advanced load balancing in heavy-duty ball mills.
The project was completed in record time, 84 hours per line, meeting Peñasquito’s strict production schedule. By replacing legacy systems with DigiQuad®, AMI improved the availability, safety, and efficiency of critical grinding equipment while introducing advanced diagnostic and maintenance capabilities.
