Monterrey Mexico: AMI Automation has created a new module to add to its successful SmartFurnace™ System of digital tools for EAF Meltshops. The IoTrode™ is part of AMI Automations’ furnace optimization system for monitoring, controlling and reducing the consumption of graphite electrodes in EAF (Electric Arc Furnace) melt shops. The IoTrode™ provides for digitization of graphite electrodes for the modern EAF Steel Producer.
The module uses industrial cameras and machine vision with AI (Artificial Intelligence) to measure electrode consumption in real time. The IoTrode™ is measuring red length and tip diameter on each phase and is tied in with all parts of our AMI SmartARC™ to know the key factors of EAF performance and ultimately giving visibility that wasn’t possible in the past to graphite electrode performance in real time. The IoTrode™ will not only measure the oxidation but control water sprays to help reduce oxidation length and help make EAF steel production more efficient.
